“Zimbabwe with a population of about 16 million makes it a very significant market. It is The majority of businesses in Zimbabwe are concentrated in the towns and cities. The reason being that the people in the rural areas are poor and therefore do not constitute a significant proportion of the market. Lanforce's strategy is centred on people's needs rather than wants i.e. goods and services that people cannot live without. So far we have identified three things that we think are very crucial to people which are Food, Water and clean Energy. Our target customers are the low-income households, majority of which live on less than $2/day. 80% of the households are women and child headed. The target market is currently dependent on fossil fuels - kerosene. As Lanforce we endeavour to make an impact in the communities we serve by providing green energy solutions.Lanforce explored opportunities for introducing biogas technology to solve current challenges associated with energy generating and deforestration. Waste considered includes organic kitchen, animal eg (cattle, chickens, pigs and human waste). In addition a cost benefit analysis of employing biogas technology was conducted for most rural of Zimbabwe.A feasibility analysis employed in the study included quantification of wastes, potential gas production and energy likely to be generated from biogas into cooking and lighting. The intervention can provide a source of energy to both peri-urban and rural households.
Imagine cooking on gas from the comfort of your kitchen, Imagine lighting your house every evening without buying kerosene. Imagine having all this without having to buy the gas? It is all possible with Lanforce. Bioenergy technology has been in existence for a couple of years in Zimbabwe. Biomass is organic matter that comes from recently living plants and organisms. The use of biomass in energy production creates carbon dioxide that is put into the air, but the regeneration of plants consumes the same amount of carbon dioxide, which is said to create a balanced atmosphere. Biomass can be used in a number of different ways in our daily lives, not only for personal use, but businesses as well.
